Will Trump Move Embassy to Jerusalem?

Will Trump Move Embassy to Jerusalem?

In the 2016 Presidential race, Donald Trump made a promise to move the US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.  For many who voted for him, this was one of several reasons why Americans cast their vote for him.  It certainly was among evangelicals who believe that Jerusalem is the eternal capitol of Israel.

Next week, President Trump will visit Israel for an official state visit.  However, reports started to surface a week ago that the USA may not move it’s embassy after-all.  There are also reports from the Trump Administration that some are stating that the Western Wall is not even in Israel, but Palestine.  This is an obvious dismissal of the fact that Israel has been in control of Jerusalem, to include the Western Wall, since 1967 during the Six Day War.

So the question is, will Trump direct the Ambassador to Israel, David Friedman, to give up their lease in Tel Aviv and move to Jerusalem?  Only time will tell on this question, but one thing is clear.  There is already a congressional act, that was passed more than two decades ago, that authorized such a move.  Please see “The Jerusalem Embassy Act of 1995” for more information.  Suffice to say, every President since Clinton has rejected to follow this law, and it would seem that President Trump is starting to lean that way.

Why is it so important that the USA recognize Jerusalem as the eternal, undivided capitol of Israel?  For one, it’s simply a historical fact.  Not only does the Bible confirm that Jerusalem is the capitol of Israel, but many other history books acknowledge this fact, such as the works of Josephus, the famed Jewish historian for the Roman Empire.  While Jerusalem, and the entire nation of Israel for that matter, has been invaded and conquered several times over, the fact remains that Jerusalem always has, and always will be the capitol of Israel.

Second, the entire land of Israel was promised to Avraham and his descendants by G-d Himself.  Genesis 12, among many chapters in the Torah, make it clear what Israel’s boundaries are.  To that end, Jerusalem is within those boundaries, and as such, the city itself is 100% G-d given and wholly belongs to the Jews.  While other people, like Arabs, live in the city, it is not theirs and never has been by any legal means.  In fact the book of Zecheriah says the following:

Zechariah 8:3 ESV

Thus says the Lord: I have returned to Zion and will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem, and Jerusalem shall be called the faithful city, and the mountain of the Lord of hosts, the holy mountain.

Now I do not know about you, but when G-d Himself is calls Jerusalem the “faithful city”, and “Mountain of the L-rd of Hosts”, I think you can take it to the bank that Jerusalem is the capitol of Israel.

Finally, the USA, and for that matter the rest of the world, would do well to officially recognize Jerusalem as the capitol of Israel simply because they will be blessed by G-d Himself!  Genesis 12 again tells us that:

Genesis 12:3 Complete Jewish Bible (CJB)

3 I will bless those who bless you, but I will curse anyone who curses you; and by you all the families of the earth will be blessed.”

Who does not want to be blessed by G-d?  Well, if we are to look at world governments, to include the United States, it seems some do not.  Do not get me wrong, America has been richly blessed, and for many decades, we have supported Israel.  We were the first country to recognize in 1948 that she is a sovereign state.  However, we are still holding back on this one area, which is to recognize Jerusalem as the capitol of Israel.  What better way to do that than to move the US Embassy to Jerusalem?  By making such a move, not only does that solidify America as a global leader, but most importantly, we will be blessed!

Let us pray that President Trump keeps his promise to move our embassy to Yerushalayim.  Pray that G-d speaks to his heart and gives him the courage to do what is right.

Shalom

Memorial Day – Israel

Memorial Day – Israel

Today was the day of Yom Hazikaron, or Memorial Day in Israel.  This is a significant holiday, as Israel takes time to remember not only the fallen servicemen and women who have died in the line of duty defending Israel, but also to the victims of terrorism.  Yom Hazikaron literally means, “Memorial Day”, and as such we should take time as believers to remember all of those who died in defense of Israel.

Most people when they thing of Israeli Memorial Day, they think of the soldiers, sailors, victims of terror, who gave up their lives for the nation of Israel.  However, we must also remember those from thousands of years ago who also sacrificed and gave up their lives for Israel.  Remember men like Yochanan the Immerser (John the Baptist) who was killed simply because he refused to bow before the Roman leader, and that he called out his sin.  All but one of the original 12 Apostles, were killed for their faith, and for spreading the Good News of Yeshua’s saving grace.  Yeshua Himself gave up His own life not just for Israel, but for the entire human race, so that we as believers can be grafted into the spiritual nation of Israel and live forever with Him in Heaven.

During this holiday, the air raid sirens play for one minute.  During this time all traffic stops, people get out of their cars and stand in reverence, soldiers salute, and school children in class stand very still to remember the sacrifices made so that they can live in a free land.  Yeshua ensures us all that we have freedom in Him.

John 8:36 Complete Jewish Bible (CJB)

36 So if the Son frees you, you will really be free!

Please take the time today for a moment of silence for our Jewish brothers and sisters who have lost loved ones in defense of Israel, as well as those affected by terror.  Also, pray that they will receive and accept that the Mashiach (Messiah) that they have prayed for so long to come, has already come and is coming again!  Pray for a mighty harvest of souls to be set free!

Why We Should Pray For Israel

Why We Should Pray For Israel

As I am writing this blog article over Thanksgiving weekend here in America, that nation of Israel is literally on fire right now.  While the reports are still coming in, what we do know is that the fires that are raging in and around Haifa were in fact acts of arson.  Thousands have been evacuated and over 700 homes have been destroyed.  We really need to say some special prayers for Israel right now.

That leads me to the point of this blog article, which is, why should we as believers pray for Israel?  Is this something that we are biblically commanded to do?  Also, why does it even matter?  The reason why I am writing about this is that I am seeing an alarming trend among believers of having an indifferent to an “I don’t care” attitude towards the Jewish state.  If you are a believer reading this article, I strongly encourage you at this very moment to pray to G-d for understanding about this subject, and not react with emotions, but with the spirit and wisdom of our L-rd Yeshua.

First, is praying for Israel something we are biblically commanded to do?  The simple answer is a resounding “yes”!  The bible says in the book of Pslam 122:6:  “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem.  May those who love you be secure.”  This is a clear example that not only should we actually pray for Israel, but that by doing so, we ourselves will be safe and that G-d will be pleased with us.  Jerusalem is the city where G-d Himself chose to establish His physical presence here on Earth in regards to the Holy Temple.

Staying on that subject for a moment, there will be a new Jerusalem that will come down from heaven as we read in the book of Revelation 21:1-2.  Therefore, we must understand that Jerusalem now, and the Jerusalem to come, is the holy dwelling place of G-d Almighty and His Son Yeshua.  The very name of the city means “peace” (from root word shalom) and since He is the Prince of Peace, why would we not pray for the nation of Israel as a whole and the city of Jerusalem?

Another reason to pray for Israel, is that by blessing Israel, we in turn will be blessed.  In Genesis 12, G-d tells Avraham, “I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you.  And in you all the families of the Earth will be blessed.”  That’s pretty clear cut.  When we pray for Israel, be it for peace, for protection, for prosperity, we are in fact blessing Israel.  G-d says Himself that when we do we will be blessed as well.  Who does not want to be blessed?

To answer “Why does it matter?” I believe it has already been answered.  However, lets address this from another perspective of those who choose not to bless the nation of Israel.  Clearly the alternative is that if we are not blessing Israel through our prayers, our speech, and our conduct, then by default, we are cursing the nation of Israel.  In this modern era, the most noticeable way that I am seeing in terms of not blessing Israel is an apathy or indifference towards the Jewish state.

That indifference comes about with attitudes like some of the following things I have heard people say.

“I look at it this way.  I’ve got no business over there.”

“Well, there will be a new Jerusalem.”

Probably the most shocking is, utter silence from believers on the topic of Israel.  I have asked for people that I know, who are believers, to join with me in praying for the peace of Israel, or maybe bring up the topic of Israel and literally will hear nothing but silence.  What is clear from such behavior is that they do not care.  They do not see the need because honestly, many believers in Yeshua think that it was the Jews that killed Him, and thus, while they will not admit it outright, there is an undercurrent of resentment to downright hatred of the Jews.  That type of resentment or hatred has a name: antisemitism.

These are bold statements to make, and I have had some people tell me, “anti-Semite” is a strong word.  Comments such as these are typically a way for someone to shame the person who said it, because the person hearing it thinks it’s offensive to say.  What they do not realize or recognize is that anti-Semitic behavior or rhetoric is itself offensive.  Therefore, if someone is acting in an anti-Semitic way, what else is one to call such a person?

Back to the subject at hand, according to G-d’s own Word, if a believer has an indifferent or apathetic attitude towards Israel, then it is a sin pure and simple.  We need to search our own hearts and ask G-d to deliver us from the deceptiveness of antisemitism, which masks itself in replacement theology.  Such theology we see today is the complete absence of mentioning that our Messiah is Jewish.  One person I heard recently state that Yeshua is not human anymore.  If that is the case, when He ascended into heaven as a resurrected human, He stated that He would “return in a like manner.”  One has to ask, if He is not human, then what form is he coming back in exactly?

This is a way that different denominations over the centuries have divorced G-d’s people from their Hebrew roots of their faith, and as such, makes it easier to essentially cast Israel aside as a lost cause.  Many believers today are under the impression that they are the chosen people of G-d alone, because “the Jews had their chance, but killed Jesus.”  Nothing could be further from the truth.  Many Jews today are starting to embrace Yeshua as the Mashiach (Messiah).  In fact, in Israel today, it is the only country in the Middle East where Christianity is growing.  One wishes we could say that about America, the so-called “One Nation Under G-d.”

Finally, believers need to understand that, according to scripture, they are Jewish themselves.  Romans Chapter 2 is very clear on the subject.  Also, there are verses about believers being grafted into the olive branch, but that we are not the root, so we should not boast.  Boasting is not just about walking around saying how great we are in the general sense of bragging, but that also includes thinking that we have somehow supplanted the Jews as G-d’s chosen people.  There is nothing in scripture that remotely suggests that G-d has ever broken covenant with the Jews.  While the Jews in their storied history have rebelled many times against G-d, G-d Himself never broke His promises with His people.  So when believers choose not to bless Israel, in essence, they are being anti-Semitic, which is to be anti-Christ, and the latter of course, is the most egregious.

Speaking from personal experience, when I started making Israel a party of my daily prayers, there was a change.  I am a happier person, and most certainly I have been blessed many times over which lines right up with scripture in Genesis 12.  Moreover, getting in touch with the Hebrew roots of my faith in Yeshua, which will inevitably lead back to the land of Israel, has enriched my study of the Bible, in that, I am understanding more deeply what G-d’s Word has to say.  Blessing Israel is a commandment and as such if we are to call ourselves believers in Yeshua, then we must comply when Yeshua said Himself:

“If you love Me, you will keep My Commandments.”

Let us all know continue to pray for Israel and to bless the land and the Holy City of Yerushalayim.  If you have never included Israel and our Jewish brothers and sisters in your prayers, I encourage you to start today.

The Big Lie -You can look, but you cannot touch.

Normally, The Watchman Report typically writes news commentary on political issues, and the news coming from Israel.  However, something has been happening on social media that I have recognized is increasing that could no longer be ignored.  That issue is the increase of people posting pictures, memes, and what have you of scantily clad women either as part of a joke, or a lot of times, in the form of admiration of the female form.  I am quite sure that a lot of this goes on on the reverse side, that is to say, women posting pictures of scantily clad men and e-drooling over them.  The bottom line is, what you are doing, is wrong.

“You can look but you cannot touch!”  This is a very old expression that has been recited in relationships for as far back as anyone can remember.  I know that I have heard it, and in my earlier years of life, even subscribed to it.  The thinking goes like this, that someone in a committed relationship, most oftentimes in a marriage, that the husband and or wife can look upon members of the opposite sex that are not their spouse and “appreciate” what they see.  Because they are fantasizing about that person in their mind, but not carrying out a physical act of adultery, everything is o.k.

However, I’m not talking about, “That lady is well dressed.”, or, “Jim looks nice in that suit.”  In other words, paying a compliment with no lustful of sexual undertones or overtones.  What I am talking about is when herds of men and women see the opposite sex walk by and say, “Oh wow! He’s hot!”, or, “Hey dude, check out that chick over there!”

What I just stated is very mild to what we all hear everyday, but you get the point.  Back to my original statement, I’ve seen such things creeping up with increasing frequency on social media as well.  You will be scrolling through posts and bam!  There is some picture of man or woman in a seductive pose, and what’s worse, is seeing that the person who liked the story, image, or whatever, is a married man or woman.  Do you realize what you are doing?

When men and women look upon the opposite sex with lustful intentions, you are committing a sin according to the Bible.  When you say that you will watch a movie, solely for the reason that one of the actors or actresses is hot, means you have a lust issue, and that is not good for your marriage. Even if a single person is reading this, if you do the same, you also are committing a sin.  Yeshua stated, “whoever looks upon another woman with lust has committed adultery in his own heart.”  Matthew 5:27-28

The bottom line is, it’s not “OK” for you to do what you have been doing. So your posting of half naked men and women on social media, you know, for the whole world to see, you are essentially declaring to millions of people your lustful intentions.  According to Yeshua, you have committed an act of adultery even if you have not hopped in the sack with that person you are oogling with your eyes.

Even more sad is that a lot of people in marriages accept this as “normal”, because the world has told them this is o.k.  As we have just found out from the Bible, it is not OK by any stretch of the imagination.  Some people in marriages keep this sort of thing hidden from their spouse and never speak of such things around them, or show them such images that they are looking upon.

Why is that?  It’s because you already know what you are doing is wrong. That’s called conviction of the Holy Spirit and He’s calling on you to stop what you are doing!  What I like to think is this, “Is what you are doing right now something you would call up your husband and or wife and show/tell them about?”  If it’s not, then it’s wrong.

Think about how doing such things makes the other person feel.  Men, when you are looking at other women, either in pictures, or in public, in a lustful way, you make her feel like crap to put it bluntly.  You are saying with your heart that what G-d has given you is not good enough, because you see something better looking.  That is demeaning, degrading, and it dishonors marriage in every single way imaginable.

Women, the same goes for you. That man who works really hard every day to provide for you and the family, when you make lustful comments about another man, you are knocking your husband down about 10 notches saying he’s not good enough for you.  Not surprising, when things like this start happening in a marriage, not too far down the road a couple oftentimes winds up getting a divorce.

However, the ultimate consequence for both of you, if you do not turn away from this sin, is that when you die, you will spend an eternity in hell. Yeshua says in the book of Revelation, “But the cowardly, unbelieving, sexually immoral…will have their part in the lake of fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”  Ask yourself, “Is that really what I want for an eternity?”  Hopefully your answer is “no” and you repent and make the change by asking Yeshua to heal you of your lustful heart.  He can and He will take those feelings away and replace them with His holiness and His Shalom (peace).

Some may say that I am being “holier than thou”.  This is simply not the case.  We are all sinners and yes, in my distant past, I had problems with lust no different than the next man.  The difference is, I learned and accepted what the Word of G-d states on this subject.  Only through turning my life over to Yeshua, was I able to overcome the sin of lust. Therefore, I am speaking from experience, and not some “holy roller” that likes to condemn people.

Ultimately, you have to love G-d first, and then you will have the ability to love your spouse the way G-d intended.  As for those who choose to disregard this, do not be surprised if someday on social media that you have been unfriended by me.  The reason is simple, and that is, I do not want to see those types of images showing up on my feed.  Oh, and if you were not aware of this, even if you didn’t post it, if you liked it, commented on it, it’s in your social media feed and everyone who is friends with you sees it.

Men, it’s time to stand up and start acting like men of the Bible. Stop listening to what Hollywood portrays what a real man is, because quite honestly, they do not have the first clue.  Women, the same goes for you, in that, stop buying into what Cosmopolitan magazine defines as a healthy relationship.

Look to the Word of G-d as to what a real woman is supposed to be.  Yes, the Bible does show the fallacy of men and women throughout it’s pages. However, where men and women have fallen, G-d shows us that through Him, they can be redeemed.  If you have read this article in it’s entirety, or even partially, what was stated is based off of His Word, and thus, you are now accountable for it’s content.  I pray that if you are struggling with lust in your life, you will turn to Yeshua, and let Him free you from your sin. “Who who the Son sets free, is free indeed!”

Shalom

Welcome to The Watchman Report

I would like to welcome you to my new blog!  This blog is dedicated to bringing you news and commentary on the various things that are going on in our world today.  We are going to take those things and put them in the proper Biblical context, especially as it relates to the “last days” that we are in now.

There will of course be commentaries on other subjects, but primarily we want to stay focused on what is happening to our society that is drifting away from any sense of morality.  I hope you will join me on this journey.
